Hard Boiled Eggs - How do you boil eggs?

FIRST - EGGS MAY CRACK
boiling eggs that are still cold from the refrigerator have a higher likelihood of cracking. I just tested this and 2 out of 8 eggs cracked upon entering the boiling water because they were too cold. You might want to bring them to room temperature first or just be daring like I was.

Use a spoon - I use a spoon to gently lower eggs into boiling water so they don't crack when they hit the bottom of the pan.

Use a timer – Chances are if you are like me you will forget - USE A TIMER!

Use a small saucepan – eggs with too much space may crash into each other while they cook and will likely crack.

Do not fast boil - Place the eggs in a saucepan and add enough cold water to cover them. Bring the water up to simmering point

Hard-boiled eggs

2 to 3 1/2 minutes for soft boiled

3 1/2 to 4 1/2 minutes for medium soft

10 to 12 minutes for hard boiled

15 minutes if you want to be assured they will be hard boiled.

The variation in time of cooking depends much on the size of the eggs. For example, small eggs will be medium soft in 2 1/2 minutes, while large eggs will require 3 1/2 minutes to reach the same point of cooking.
