Make Icons Stay in the Same Location After Restart...

Question: How do I place my desk icons where I want and the make them stay there when I restart every morning? Every morning when I start they are all on the left side of the screen.  Not where they where when I logged after placing them! -- Sharon

Answer: In this case the user may have had the Windows Auto Arrange feature enabled. Follow the simple steps below to correct this.

1. Right + Click your desktop in any open area
2. From the window displayed choose Arrange Icons By >> and uncheck Auto Arrange as the example below illustrates.

Applying these steps should prevent Windows from arranging your icons on the left-side of your desktop. If this does not work try the same steps and this time also uncheck the Align to Grid setting.
